The Emerson Prison Initiative (EPI), a program of Emerson College, provides a rigorous liberal arts education with a pathway to a Bachelor’s degree for individuals incarcerated in Massachusetts. EPI offers courses that are as similar as possible to Emerson’s Boston campus. We support students’ critical thinking and communication skills to engage, critique, and transform the world around them.
EPI has enrolled 80 students, 19 of whom have earned their Bachelor’s degree, and welcomed 5 released students to Emerson’s Boston campus to complete their degrees on the outside.
