Freedom Education Project Puget Sound (FEPPS) provides a rigorous college degree for incarcerated people at the Washington Corrections Center for Women, and cultivates pathways to academic and professional opportunity upon release. We believe that access to quality education is a human right and is the catalyst for the most transformative life changes. We seek to increase family and financial security for people releasing from prison through educational empowerment.

Program Facts:

Through FEPPS, more than 400 people have taken courses.  Since 2016, we have awarded 88 Associates of Arts degrees and 10 Bachelor of Liberal Studies degrees to incarcerated students.  Currently, there are over 100 active students in the program, 20 of which are enrolled in the second cohort of the BA degree.  Our alumni have gone on to attend state universities, to get involved in legislation, and to create their own community organizations that serve the formerly incarcerated population.
