The Institute for Educational Empowerment (IEE) at Miami Dade College (MDC) is dedicated to delivering high-quality post-secondary education to incarcerated individuals across Florida. Through rigorous academic programming and holistic support, IEE empowers students to transform their lives and contribute meaningfully to their families and communities. We advocate for expanded educational access for justice-impacted populations and actively shape public discourse around incarceration and educational equity in Florida.
Since our launch in January 2021, 63 students have earned their AA degrees, and 24 students have earned their BAS degrees while still incarcerated..
